Naming Your Puppy
To teach your puppy it's name, you have to make him/her comfortable around you. Try by feeding your puppy food and petting him/her. You will have to say the puppy's name into the microphone. You have to speak clearly so the puppy understands it. If it doesn't work, try a different name. Keep repeating it over and over again.
Caring For Your Puppy
It is very important to feed, water, and clean your dog. How do you do this? You can buy food and water at the Pet Supply store, or one of the discount stores on the walking map. Once you have bought some food and a beverage, go to "Supplies", then "Care", and then your food and drinks should appear. There are other types of food and drinks besides water and dry food. Later in the game you can get milk, dog food can, and a natural dog food bag. Now for keeping your dog clean. Make sure you know if your dog has a long-haired or short-haired coat. You can find that out by hitting the question mark by your dog's name on the home screen. Then, either go to pet supply or a discount shop and buy either a rubber brush (short hair) or wire brush (long hair). Then, you can also buy Shampoo (Long or Short Hair). At the home screen, tap "Supplies" then "Care" and tap either the appropriate brush to brush your dog, or hit the right shampoo to give your dog a bath. Taking a bath and brushing just involve rubbing your stylus across the dog's body to either brush it or bathe it.
Training
Training your dog helps your dog become smarter. To begin training your dog you have to know the first three basic tricks. The tricks are listed here in order: Sit, Lie Down, Shake, Spin, Roll Over, Beg, and Jump. There are many more tricks in the game than just those. To start the first trick, slide down the dog's stomach. Your dog will sit. If you see a lightbolb tap on it. Say sit before the lightbolb runs out. You have to keep doing this until your dog understand the trick. Remember to say the trick clearly as possible. To do the next trick you have to make your dog into a sitting position. Slide down it's stomach and it will lie down. Tap on the lightbolb and said the trick. For the trick Shake, you have to make your dog sit and lift up it's paw. Quickly click on the lightbolb. Do the same thing by saying the trick. Once your dog knows all the first three basic tricks, start training it by saying the tricks. You could also delete your dog's if they don't recognize your voice. If your dogs understand all the tricks it learns, you can start preforming the tricks in the obedience contest. If you don't understand how to do the tricks check the training book in the Care section in Supplies. Good luck!
Trainer Points
Trainer Points determine how good of a trainer you are. From the home screen, tap on Go Out, then Info, then Trainer Info. To the bottom of the left corner you should see "Trainer Points" and however many trainer points you have. Well, you could go for walks, play with your puppy/puppies, or take care of them well. Every minute you spend with your dog, another trainer point is added.
Walking
Walking is good exercise for your dog. To walk your dog, tap on Go Out then tap on Walk. Choose a dog to walk. To start walking your dog, move the paintbrush around the places you want to go. On the left side where the dog icon is under, is your dog's stamina. When the stamina runs out, you can't walk that far. If you finished moving the paintbrush, move the paintbrush back to your home. If you mess up, you can redo or move the paintbrush back. To redo the walking trail, you press on the eraser which is on the left corner, above the stamina. If you go on the question marks, you will get presents from your dog or meet other dogs. The places you could go are the park, discount store, and the training agility trials. There is also a park with other dogs you could play with. The discount store has lower price food and maybe some new toys. The park is for frisbee training. You could also feed and play with your dog there. In the traing agility trials, you would have to train your puppy by jumping, walking, and running through the hurdles, seesaws, poles, and tunnels. Practice before you enter the contest. During the walk, your puppy might have to use the bathroom. If your dog made a "dog doo-doo", pick it up by pressing on it. If you don't pick it up, the neighbors in the game will have comments about your dog. When your dog's walk had ended you can't go walk with the same dog that has walk before. You have to wait a few minutes before walking the same dog again.
Contests
Disc Contest - Practice before the contest or you will lose. Sometimes if you don't train your dog, you might win. Practice the disc throwing at the park on your walk. Your dog will get better at it by practicing. Once your dog catches the discs, you can enter the disc contest. To look for Contests, tap on go out, and tap on Contests. Tap on the first one that says "Disc Competition."
Agility Trials - Practice before entering. If you start this contest early, your dog will miss many points. Your dog will go slow at it. To find the gymnasism, you have to go find a dog jumping on your walk. Practice by moving your dog toward the hurdles. Your dog will have to jump over them. Once your dog become good at it, you can enter the contest. There are also more obstacle like the tunnels, seesaws, and the poles.
Obedience Trials - This contest shows how smart is your dog is. Train your dog before entering. This is harder than any other contests. This contest you have to say the trick. If you lose that's okay. Making your dog listen is the hard thing. If you do not know how to train your dog, read the topic "Training" or read the Obedience book in the Care section of the supplies.
Bark Mode
To do bark mode you need someone with a Nintendogs game near you. To find Bark Mode, tap on Go out and you will find Bark Mode. Tap on Bark Mode. You could also bring a gift to a friend playing Nintendogs. While your in wireless function, which means closing your DS, you will hear a bark. Remember to have a friend playing Nintendogs too and do the same thing. Open your DS and you might recieve a gift if your friend bring one of their supplies. Now you can train, play, and feed your friend's dog.
